The Vignial family acquired in 1979
The private-owned property ,listed as historical Monument was partially abandoned when we acquired it in 1979.
For years and years , little by little, we restored, transformed and improved the property so as the 30 ha of a landscape park.
In the beginning when we came for holidays with our 2 children, we started to restore the keep, then we renovate the salons,the rooms and created bathrooms. It is never finished.
In 1998 we decided to live here and to open the castle to guests. As former PF for l’Oreal,Erika likes receiving guests like friends. We like to share a lifestyle offering a pleasant experience in a 1000 years history setting.
Our son Fréderic came to help us a few years ago with his family and he is in charge now of the property.
The Castle
Lending the scene an even greater romantic appeal are the crumbling stone walls and towers of the castle dating back to the 11th century.The castle is surrounded by a 30 ha of idyllic landscape grounds with exotic, two hundred year old trees, beautiful cedar and redwood trees,flower gardens, a river and a lake with with a rowboat, swans and lilypads. In the warmer months of the year, our guests can relax at the outdoor heated swimming pool with a romantic view on the “Bocage vendéen”. The life here is a haven of peace and quietness.
The village of la Flocelliere is at 5 minuts walk where you will find grocery,pharmacy etc..
From La Flocelliere, guests can enjoy a wide range of tours and activities : the famous Puy du Fou, a worldwide theme park, located at 8 km. Vineyards are at one hour distance, so as the Atlantic coast and many historical places

At your arrival, Patrice and Erika Vignial welcome their guests personally. Elegant , refined and cosy suites or double rooms with king-size bed of high quality .Each room is furnished with designer fabrics and antique furniture, in harmony with the history of the property, Insuite bathroom offering modern comfort. Daily buffet breakfast so as afternoon tea are proposed in our historical dining room decorated with ancient furniture,silver , precious porcelain and the famous painted ceiling.
The thick walls of the chateau work better than airconditioning.
Some time, a candlelight family dinner with fresh products from the garden may be proposed
